How do you buy an acrylic ball you've never seen before and know what you're getting? Consult this handy chart to see how we classify our acrylic balls.
NOTE! All acrylic grade listings in our online store will be listed at the lowest applicable grade. This means that what you get will be at least as good as what we say and could be better. These grades only apply to clear acrylic balls due to the different elements present in colored and UV balls.
| A+ | The best balls you can get. 100% acrylic with no coloration in the resin. Also known as water- or ultra-clear. | A | No artifacts, bubbles, or other marks. Perfect for isolations or just looking into. |
| A | Some slight tinting of the resin but still 100% acrylic. The coloration is usually hard to spot unless you are looking for it or comparing it to A+ balls. | A- | Slight haziness or lack of clarity in the optical properties of the ball. Usually visible only upon extremely close inspection. No artifacts, bubbles, or other debris. |
| A- | A more obvious tint but it still will usually pass for really clear at a distance of only a few feet. Some rare units may contain other resins or hardening agents. | B+ | 1 or 2 very small artifacts or dust-sized particles may be present, or there may be more noticeable optical imperfections. These balls will perform very well as the imperfections cannot be seen except close-up. |
| B | Most B-grade balls are mixed resin with strong and/or uneven tinting of the plastic. They are excellent for beginner or practice balls. | B | Good to fair clarity with possible optical imperfections, artifacts or microbubbles. Good for performing at larger distances. Not recommended for isolations. |
| B- | One large or several small artifacts; a moderate amount of dust-sized particles; or several bubbles. Balls of this quality should be sold at a discount price. | ||
